DESCRIPTION:2016 WAS Conference\, planned for the Ala Moana Hotel in beautiful Honolulu\, on the island of Oahu\, Hawaii! \nThe conference theme announced in November is “Beekeeping in Hawaii: New Insights into Old Questions.” The distinct islands\, each with their own set of pests and parasites\, provide researchers with natural laboratories in which to study the effects of the mite on colony health. The work conducted in Hawaii has opened the doors to new perspectives with respect to virus evolution\, varroa’s impact\, and colony management. \nThe program will include professionals and students who are working on these research programs\, many unique to Hawaii’s beekeeping experience; a look at the effect of honey bee problems on other pollinators; and a teaching component to help elementary and high school teachers provide their students with learning opportunities related to pollinators – “teach the teachers”!

For registration by mail\, please download and complete the Conference Registration Form and send with a check or money order made payable to OSBA to the address listed on the form. The deadline for preregistration is October 18. Although registration will be available on site\, late fees apply after October 18. Early registration not only helps avoid the late fees but also helps conference planners.
