SUMMARY:Utah Beekeepers' Association Convention 2017
DESCRIPTION:The Board of Directors of the Utah Beekeepers’ Association has confirmed that the next Association convention will be on Feb 24th and 25th\, 2017. \nSpeakers will include Dr. Keith Delaplane of the University of Georgia; Stephen Coy\, Russian Bee Breeders Association; Diana Cox Foster\, Professor Utah State University; Ed Irvine\, USDA; Bob Newswander\, Utah Commercial Beekeeper; and Roger Stephenson\, Utah Commercial Beekeeper. Program details are available here. \nResearchers in BYU’s department of Microbiology and Molecular Biology are researching American Foulbrood (AFB) and specific bacteriophages which can eliminate the bacteria responsible for AFB (Paenibacillus larvae). They constantly need more samples from hives known to be infected with AFB so they can continue to isolate and identify phages which are effective in treating AFB in hives. They accept samples by mail or in person\, depending on what is easier for beekeepers. They will even cover the costs of shipping samples and will provide shipping labels if needed. DESCRIPTION:I will be speaking & teaching at this Conference. \n  \nThe Wyoming Bee College is open to everyone; beekeeper want-a-bee\, experienced beekeeper or people who are concerned about our pollinators and want to learn about conservation and habitat development to help them. \nThe 2017 conference is bigger with five (5) tracks on day one and four (4) tracks on the second day. We are pleased to bring in beekeeping authors James E Tew and Les Crowder along with the Denver Butterfly Pavilion. \nAuthor and contributor to Bee Culture Magazine James E Tewwill be our main speaker at the 2017 Wyoming Bee College he will be our morning keynote speaker for both Saturday\, March 18 and Sunday March 19. James E Tew will be our evening dinner speaker bringing beekeeping humor and stories from the hive. James E Tew has written “Beekeeping Principles”; A Manual for the Beekeeper\, “Wisdom for Beekeepers”; 500 Tips for Successful Beekeeping\, Backyard Beekeeping\, and the most recent “The Bee Keeper’s Problem Solver”.
